The Health Equity Corps (HEC) Ambassadorship Program aims to empower young health science students and professionals to become champions of Good Health and Well-Being (SDG3). By selecting one undergraduate student ambassador from each medical/health science college, the program fosters the development of social ventures within their respective colleges and communities.
Ambassadors initiate community health campaigns and social projects by mobilizing resources such as students, physicians, vehicles, medicines, and equipment from medical schools.
Ambassadors engage regional stakeholders in dialogue around strategies needed for Good Health and Well-Being.
Ambassadors explore methods and solutions for localizing globally adopted goals and targets and exchanging knowledge and ideas.
Health Equity Ambassadors have a proven track record of mobilizing other young medical leaders and youth through their activities.
Since 2019, the program has been implemented in Nepal as Health Corps Ambassadors in 33 schools of medicine, nursing, public health, and paramedics. The program is now being extended to HEC partner institutions and country chapters.
The Health Equity Corps Ambassadors Program and Solutions Fund aims to bridge the gap between the resources available in medical schools and the needs of communities. By empowering students in healthcare education institutions to take an active role in community health initiatives, the program fosters a new generation of health professionals committed to achieving Good Health and Well-Being at the grassroots level.
